RESPONSIBLE RECYCLING OF E-WASTE
IT recycling
It has never been more crucial to recycle old IT equipment
responsibly and get the most resources out of it.
Why Recycling
All of the components that we recycle are processed down to the basic commodities right here in North America at an environmentally-friendly electronics e-cycling facility. These facilities are specifically designed to efficiently break down electronic components into resources that can then be reused or redistributed with little or no impact on the environment.
According to the EPA:
- More than 50 million computers are abandoned every year
- More than 3,000 tons of electronics are discarded every day
- 80% of discarded electronics end up in a landfill
- Only 5% of U.S. electronics recyclers refuse to export e-waste
Computers, monitors, and cell phones contain toxins, including lead and arsenic. Every day Americans dispose of 130,000 computers. Today, 23 cell phones are produced every second, and Americans discard more than 100 million cell phones per year. EDM Recycling is committed to helping improve the environment and preventing these electronics from ending up in landfills.

PROCESSING AGREEMENT
EDM offers asset recovery, assured destruction, and recycling services for electronics based on processing agreements with inbound customers.
RE-USE ASSESSMENT
EDM evaluates, tests, and sells electronics (and electronic components) with a viable secondary market to extend product life and recovery.
PRODUCT DISASSEMBLY
All end-of-life products processed by EDM are disassembled in a state of the art eCycling facility for the recovery of base commodities.
COMMODITY RECOVERY
We separate any unusable materials from the recyclable resources during the disassembly process to reduce the risk of cross contamination.
THIRD PARTY AUDITING
EDM has a complete and comprehensive independent third party audit of its eCycling facilities, we are doing everything possible to reduce the impact on the environment.
Your questions answered
FAQ: IT Recycling
What is IT recycling? Why is it important?
IT recycling is the environmentally responsible disposal of electronic waste (e-waste). It involves collecting, processing, and dismantling old computers, laptops, printers, monitors, and other electronic devices to extract valuable materials and components.
By properly recycling IT equipment, we all can minimize the environmental impact of e-waste and conserve valuable resources.
Why should I recycle my IT equipment?
Recycling IT equipment is crucial for several reasons:
- Environmental Protection: Improper disposal of e-waste can lead to the release of harmful substances like lead, mercury, and cadmium, contaminating soil and water, posing health risks to humans and wildlife.
- Resource Conservation: IT equipment contains valuable materials like metals, plastics, and glass that can be reused or recycled to create new products. This helps reduce the need for mining and refining new resources, which are energy-intensive and environmentally damaging processes.
- Cost Savings: Recycling IT equipment can save businesses money by avoiding the disposal costs and potentially generating revenue from the sale of recovered materials.
What IT hardware can we recycle?
We can arrange for the recycling of a wide range of IT equipment, including desktop computers, PCs, laptops, servers, printers, monitors, and network equipment such as routers and switches.
What happens to the data on the hardware that is recycled?
All data is always securely deleted in accordance with current regulations. We offer data deletion throughdata wiping orphysical destruction of data carriers.
